Quofda: Was Your First Kiss A Good One?

No. Obviously not.

Your very first kiss? Honestly, I’m not sure I even remember mine. Was it during a long hot summer, near the river where the kids gathered to wash the dust off their clumsy sweaty bodies tired from playing in the fields and woods near the camp site all day?

Or perhaps is was in the dark of church, the first time us Catholic school boys ever saw a girl; a quick peck on virgin lips shut tight from excitement, stolen in the back pew whilst trying to stay awake listening to the priest’s drone in the front?

Who knows.

I’ll tell you about my first real kiss though, my freshman year in college with a girl that smelled of strawberries and thought I was so sleek and aloof; a year older than she was. Mystery. Worldly young man I was and she had just dumped her hick high school sweetheart, dazed by the big city vibe and all the cool places I took her to.

She kissed long and deep like there was no tomorrow.

But there was. We dated a month (February, from the 1st to the 28th) and exchanged teddy bears on St Valentine’s. It ended in the first of bitter-sweet tears and she took her revenge by hooking up with the college jock.

Cut my losses. Moved on. But I won’t forget those lips. The strawberry.
